1900: Edison invented the gramophone. 1st ever time music was recored and experience. Fishchinger experinmeted recording sounds and vision.
1920: The jazz singer was the 1st sound film and there was a high demand for this.
1930: 3 minute musical films called the soundies were created by panoram.
1940: Soundies were very popular and began to expand their format and create other types such as comedy soundies with other stars but were not as recognise as the musical soundies
1960: A video juke box was created in France called scopitone
1970: Top of the pops which was a long running British TV show experimented with scopitones using them occasionally
1980: MTV, the worlds 1st ever music telivsion channel was created. It broadcasted 24 hours a day and created a sudden need for music videods.
1990: The sucess of MTV lead to other music channels being created and now there was a mass want for music so different genres came to place such as raggae and hip hop.
